Buenos Dias Familias!!

We are ending the season of Winter (invierno) and will be starting to learn new and exciting topics this upcoming marking period. Entering into a new season "Primavera" - Spring students will learn from classes Pre-K to 8th grade about Spring topics. These will be new verbs such as preparar-to prepare, plantar - plant, esperar- to wait and so on... New and exciting Spring holidays such as Pasqua -(Easter) and incorporated into the Easter Season will be such things as learning the Stations of the Cross in Spanish. Students will learn new vocabulary about the life cycle of a plant which will allow students to learn so many new vocabulary words.

Our Mission students 6th, 7th, and 8th grade will be learning to conjugate AR, ER, and IR verbs. Also incorporated into early this marking period the mission students will be finishing some computer based technology projects. Students presented to the class "Mi Pais" a Spanish speaking country project where they researched all facts on a Spanish speaking country using Spanish text. This uses the NYS Learning Standard - Cultural Understanding.
Pre-K to 5th grade - are learning conversation essentials, seasons, colors, numbers, listening to stories in the target language, culture in Spanish speaking countries, holidays, and much more. Students at the present time are learning "Dia de San Patricio" - St. Patrick's Day and new vocabulary such as olla, duende, trebol, oro, -pot, leprechaun, shamrock and pot(of gold). Students will read grade level dialogue on "Dia de San Patricio".
In all grade students Pre-K to 8th grade students here at OLQA are constantly learning not just new words, but small simple dialogue which allows them to speak with simple conversations. I will keep you all updated before Easter on what students have accomplished during this special season of Easter and Spring.

** Please note for Mission students 6th, 7th, and 8th grade I post my assignments on Google Classroom.
